After having done extensive research into Cape architectural practices and architectural global trends,
the clients commissioned us to design this project for their steep mountain side site overlooking the Atlantic. Motivated by security concerns, they wanted a home that would accommodate an international “lock-up-and-go” lifestyle. The concept was for a penthouse apartment to 'float' gently above its site leaving the rocks and natural vegetation as untouched as possible. The design itself is a study in "plastic-planes," in which the structure itself is manipulated to create a sense of sculptural play and lightness.
