In recent years increasing population and economic activity has amplified development pressure in Cape Town. This has resulted in an increasing need to redevelop sites at higher densities. This scheme for 3 upmarket town-houses is on a sloping site overlooking the city's Atlantic sea-board. Strictly controlled development rights have resulted from the extensive negotiation process with both the adjacent owners and the local authority. These in turn have defined a strict envelope for the proposal which has been interpreted as an exercise in evolving a simple understated response that is both sculpturally rich in its form and its play of light.
